The Alexander Technique today
Some concepts that have become increasingly more important for society as a whole in the last decade or two include:
So how is it that approximately 100 years ago, FM Alexander, an actor from Tasmania, Australia, came up with a method that each of us can learn that gives us access to these very possibilities in every moment? He named it 'the work' but in time it came to be known as the Alexander technique.
As a Shakespearean actor who kept repeatedly losing his voice on stage and had exhausted all western medical advice, FM Alexander stopped and asked himself the question: could it be that the way that I am doing what I am doing is causing me my problems? And so began a process of years of experimentation, analysis, setbacks and progress until FM Alexander not only resolved his voice problem, but also came up with his 5 point plan which gets to the heart of the human condition and has affected the lives of so many, from all walks of life, for the better.
In today's world, there is a reason that these concepts are becoming increasingly more important, and one way of exploring them is with a qualified Alexander technique teacher who will guide you with their hands and words to have an experience of your mind and body working together in harmony.
